Customer pays in BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT, DAI, LTC, BCH, DOGE, SHIB, MATIC; Coinbase Commerce auto-converts to your configured fiat at payment confirmation. You're paid in USD (or EUR / GBP / etc.); customer pays in crypto. Settlement to bank: 1-3 business days.

Common Gotchas
- 15-minute price lock — Coinbase locks the crypto-to-fiat conversion rate for 15 minutes when the charge is created. If the customer takes longer to send, they need to refresh the charge. UX should highlight the time-lock visibly.

No — Coinbase auto-converts every received payment to your settlement currency. You see fiat in your bank account.
1% on Coinbase Commerce — flat. Cheaper than card processing (2.5-3%) but with the operational complexity of crypto checkout flows.
That's controlled from your Coinbase Commerce account settings, not an Aeion setting — Coinbase Commerce lets you restrict which cryptocurrencies a charge accepts. Stablecoins are pegged to fiat; volatility during the unconfirmed window is < 1%.
Coinbase Commerce doesn't currently support Lightning. For BTC payments, customers send on-chain (with the 10-60 minute confirmation wait). If LN matters for your audience, evaluate BTCPay Server as an alternative (Aeion's adapter framework can wrap it).
Crypto payments are non-reversible. Once confirmed, the merchant has the funds. No chargeback mechanism. (This is also why crypto fees are lower — no dispute infrastructure.)
USD, EUR, GBP. For other currencies, Coinbase Commerce converts to USD first, then your bank converts (with FX fees from your bank). Use Adyen / regional providers for non-USD settlement.
Coinbase Commerce can generate a hosted-checkout URL that you email to the customer. Customer pays from any wallet. Aeion's billing API returns that URL for the Coinbase provider the same way it does for other gateways.
