Aeion Hospitality + Stripe
Stripe is the default payment processor for modern hotels. Aeion's hospitality module integrates Stripe natively across all touchpoints — Stripe Elements in the booking engine, SetupIntent for card-on-file (for incidentals + late checkout), automatic folio settlement, refund handling, dispute case tracking. PCI DSS SAQ A scope on Aeion's side (Stripe handles Level 1) — minimal compliance overhead for properties.

FAQ
Stripe: easier onboarding, better developer experience, US-leaning. Adyen: deeper enterprise features, better Europe, lower fees at high volume ($10M+). Aeion supports both via adapter pattern.
Tokenized — Aeion doesn't store the card. SetupIntent shows guest a clear authorization screen ("Aeion may charge this card for incidentals up to $X"). Guest comfort varies; Enterprise + leisure travelers usually fine; some prefer cash deposit.
Stripe handles FX at capture. Hotel sees USD in account; guest's bank statement shows EUR. Per-property base currency configurable.
Supported via Stripe Elements + Stripe SDK. Increasingly preferred for online booking.
Aeion uses Payment Element for online booking (modern UX); Elements for embedded forms; Checkout for hosted payment pages. Mix per use case.
Full or partial refunds via Stripe API; folio adjustment + reverse journal entry. Refunds typically settle in 5-10 business days back to guest's card.
Atlas (incorporation): one-time use. Treasury (banking): replace bank account potentially. Issuing (cards): for corporate spend. None hospitality-specific; Aeion supports via general finance module.
Aeion SAQ A (lowest scope) — we never see card numbers. Stripe handles Level 1. Combined: enterprise-grade with minimal compliance overhead for properties.
Aeion ships adapters for Adyen, Braintree, Stripe, and PayPal. Switch via /admin/hospitality/integrations. Migration usually <1 day.
Stripe monitors chargeback rate; above 1% triggers warnings; above 1.5% can suspend account. Aeion's dispute workflow helps keep rate low.
