Aeion Bridge for Physical Security & IoT

Cloud security and building-management platforms hit the same wall as cloud POS — local devices live on the LAN behind firewalls, speaking protocols (ONVIF, Modbus, BACnet, MQTT) that browsers can't reach. Vendor-locked solutions (Genetec, Verkada, Lenel, Honeywell, Johnson Controls) force you to use their proprietary appliances. Aeion Bridge connects cloud Aeion Sentinel + Smart Spaces to standard ONVIF cameras, relay-controlled door access control, BLE sensors, Modbus/BACnet HVAC, and MQTT IoT endpoints over a single outbound WebSocket. Walkthroughs for facility security, smart-building automation, manufacturing IoT.

FAQ

Aeion Bridge supports ONVIF Profile S (streaming, PTZ, motion events). Most modern IP cameras (2015+) are ONVIF-compliant. Per-camera vendor-specific extensions on a best-effort basis. On-camera SD-card recording search/export (Profile G) isn't implemented — Sentinel's own recording pipeline handles retention instead.

Per-Bridge typical 16-32 cameras. Bottleneck is RTSP re-streaming bandwidth. Per-deployment multi-Bridge for higher counts.

No. Bridge streams to cloud ONLY when admin requests live view OR event-triggered recording. Idle bandwidth: minimal heartbeats.

Yes via Bridge to attached storage (USB, NAS, dedicated DVR). Per-camera retention configurable. Per-event recording prioritized.

OSDP is encrypted + supervised (modern); Wiegand is unencrypted (legacy) — both are reader-to-panel protocols. Aeion Bridge integrates at the door-controller relay level (lock / unlock / pulse over serial) today; speaking OSDP or Wiegand directly to readers is roadmap, not shipped.

Per-Bridge relay commands are local or fail explicitly — there's no cloud round-trip needed to fire a lock/unlock. A cached credential database with local grant/deny is roadmap, not shipped.

Per-Bridge typical 100-500 devices. Per-protocol polling schedule. Per-device QoS classification.

Per-Bridge depends on BLE radio. USB BLE dongle for higher density. Per-deployment multi-Bridge for large facilities.

Per-event ~50-200ms typical (Bridge → cloud). Per-critical event sub-100ms achievable with edge-decision (Bridge local logic).

Per-deployment redundant Bridges (active/passive). Per-event cached locally. Per-event replay on Bridge restart.

Per-Bridge tenant-scoped. Per-device classification. Per-data-path encryption.

Verkada locks you to their cameras. Aeion Bridge works with ANY ONVIF camera you choose. Migration path: drop the appliance, keep the cameras.

IoT bridge without vendor lock-in.
