Aeion Files for Customer-Facing Secure Portals

When you share sensitive documents with customers — mortgage applications, tax returns, legal contracts, M&A diligence rooms — the workload differs from internal file sharing. Each share needs scoped access, an expiration, and an audit trail. ShareFile, Citrix Content Collaboration, Onehub, FileCloud cost $30-100/user/month plus per-portal storage. Aeion Files delivers signed share-links — password-protected, expiring, download-limited, with per-access IP/user-agent logging — plus DLP scanning on your own S3/R2 bucket. Walkthroughs for mortgage lending, tax preparation, M&A diligence rooms.

FAQ

Not implemented today. There's no CNAME/SSL provisioning for a per-tenant branded portal domain — recipients use the standard Aeion share-link URL.

Partial. "Secure view" mode names the viewer in an `X-Aeion-Watermark-Target` response header, but there's no image/PDF processing step that actually burns a visible watermark into the file content yet.

Yes — set `allowDownload: false` on the share link to block downloads. Print-protection and screenshot prevention aren't implemented.

No. There's no Adobe LiveCycle or third-party DRM integration — access control today is the share link's password/expiration/max-access settings plus the (header-only) secure-view flag.

Not for share-link recipients. Share links use an optional password only — no OTP, SMS, TOTP, or WebAuthn step.

Not a session concept for share links — access is checked per-request against the link's password/expiration/max-access-count, not an idle/absolute session timer.

Not via an anonymous share link — today's public share routes are view/download/preview only. A customer who needs to upload has to be an authenticated Aeion user with write access to the target space.

Per-document CRM-record linkage via the generic cross-module context-link feature (files_context_links) — this is a manual link a user creates, not an automatic CRM-record sync.

Yes, via the separate Aeion ESign module — documents can be routed for signature and the signed result stored back in Files.

The share-access log (files_share_accesses) records every view/download with timestamp, IP, and user agent — there's no built-in dashboard beyond what you build on top of that log.

ShareFile: $30-50/user/month per recipient. Aeion Files: $0, included free with any module, plus your own storage cost. Actual savings depend on which ShareFile features you actually use today vs. what Aeion Files currently implements — see the FAQ above for gaps (branding, DRM, MFA, upload links).

Customer document sharing without the per-user tax.
