Aeion CRM for Startup Fundraising

Fundraising is the highest-stakes pipeline a founder runs. Aeion CRM repurposes the standard pipeline + sequences + analytics for the VC funnel: investor pipeline tracking, partner-by-partner outreach status, per-document data-room access logs, and AI-assisted investor update drafts. The same data model that runs sales also runs fundraises — and you don't pay Affinity's $50/seat/month or DocSend's $159/month for the privilege.

The Founder Fundraising Reality

A real fundraise (Series A in 2026):

Investor Pipeline Setup

Set up each VC firm as a company record (name, domain, size, address), and add one contact per relevant partner with their job title (e.g. general partner), plus notes and activities capturing sector focus, check-size range, investment thesis, board policy, and portfolio companies. Contacts carry a customFields field for anything else you want to track per-partner — companies don't have an equivalent custom-fields slot today, so firm-level details like thesis and check size live on notes/activities rather than structured fields.

Warm Intro Coordination

Most fundraise meetings come from warm intros, and there's no dedicated intro-chain feature in the CRM module today — no automatic conversion-rate calculation per connector, no connector ranking, and no LinkedIn-connection overlap (Aeion has no LinkedIn OAuth or network-graph access; see the LinkedIn integration page).

Data Room Access Tracking

When investors enter diligence, they need access to your documents — pitch deck, financial model, cap table, team bios, and so on. Aeion's Deal Room (attached to the investor's deal record in CRM, not the Files module) covers document versioning, granular per-stakeholder permissions, and an activity timeline:

Investor Updates

Post-close, founders send quarterly investor updates. Here's what that looks like in Aeion today:

FAQ

Many founders do — Notion + spreadsheets are fine for very early fundraises. As pipeline grows and investor updates become a regular cadence, the CRM's pipeline + email-sequence + analytics features become valuable. Aeion covers the pipeline-tracking, sequence-sending, and analytics role of Affinity + Mailchimp + a Notion fundraise board; it's not a full DocSend replacement on document-tracking depth (see Data Room above).

Yes — each founder gets a user account; all see + edit the same data. Role-based: founder = full access; advisor = read-only.

Specialized founder-fundraise CRMs. They have polished UX for the niche use case. Aeion is more capable (broader OS surface) but less niche-polished. For most fundraises, Aeion's flexibility outweighs the specialized polish.

Aeion doesn't manage equity / cap table (that's Carta / Pulley / AngelList territory). Aeion stores investor contact info + commitment amounts; cap table lives in a specialized tool.

Stays in your CRM. Investors who closed become "active investors" contacts; quarterly update sequence continues; future-round outreach uses the same pipeline (renamed to "Series B" or "Series C").

Aeion's per-tenant isolation means founders' fundraise data isn't visible to other Aeion tenants. Automated backups with point-in-time recovery; encryption at rest, included in the flat price.

Different use case entirely. VC firms have separate workflows (deal flow, due diligence, portfolio support). Aeion's collection model supports it but the VC-side use case is less developed; mostly customers use Affinity for VC-side.

Fundraise CRM that scales with your round.
