Aeion Cut + DaVinci Resolve Handoff
DaVinci Resolve remains the king of high-end color grading + finishing. Aeion Cut's strength is collaborative editorial + cloud workflows. Many studios use both — Aeion for ingest, editorial collaboration, client review; Resolve for final color, audio mix, and delivery. CMX3600 EDL export preserves cut decisions; CDL export/roundtripping carries first-pass grades; flattened-media handoff for VFX work; ACES color-space tagging; ProRes / DNxHR delivery.

FAQ
No — once in Resolve, single-editor model. CRDT collaboration is during the Aeion editorial phase. Handoff snapshots the locked state.
Two options: (1) Make change in Resolve (preferred — Resolve is now source of truth). (2) Make change in Aeion, re-export the EDL, re-import to Resolve (loses Resolve's work since handoff — and re-import only carries cut points, not any grading Resolve already did). Option 1 typical.
Limited. Aeion can store CDL values (first-pass primaries) applied via the API/admin UI, but there's no automated parser for an externally-authored `.cdl`/`.ccc` file today — values need to be entered or mapped in. Resolve's full grading (nodes, secondaries) doesn't roundtrip either way; flattened render is the only way back for a finished grade.
Not via AAF today — Aeion's AAF export is a lightweight placeholder, not a real audio-mix interchange file. For audio handoff, export stems (dialog/music/sfx) and re-mix in Fairlight or Pro Tools from those.
Aeion's own multicam sync groups angles in-platform (timecode/audio/marker-based). That grouping doesn't currently travel through EDL export to Resolve — recreate the multicam clip in Resolve, or cut multicam natively in Aeion.
SRT/VTT exported from Aeion → imported into Resolve. Burned-in vs sidecar captions configurable per delivery.
Aeion doesn't write .drp/.drt project files directly. Use EDL interchange; Resolve creates its own project on import.
Audio handoff via stems (dialog/music/sfx) today — Aeion's AAF export doesn't carry real audio-mix data yet. Fairlight imports stems cleanly.
Both supported. ProRes on Apple-favoring workflows; DNxHR on Avid-leaning. Aeion handles both for ingest + delivery.
Short-form social content where Aeion's in-platform tools suffice. Mid-budget projects without dedicated colorist. Time-pressed workflows where roundtripping adds friction.
