Aeion Cut for Post-Production

Post-production houses + agencies + episodic teams + feature productions all share a workflow: ingest dailies → assemble cuts → client review → picture lock → color/finishing → audio mix → VFX → deliverables. Legacy stack: Avid Media Composer + ShotGrid + Frame.io + Postlab + Storage + LTO archive = $500-3000+/user/year. Aeion ships the editorial + collaboration + review + asset management layer natively, roundtrips to Resolve/Premiere/Pro Tools/Nuke for specialized finishing, integrates with /modules/production for crew + schedule + budget.

FAQ

Honest answer: Avid is still the post-production standard for high-end episodic + feature work. Aeion's strength is collaborative cloud editing + integrated review + asset management. Many studios use both: Avid for offline editorial + Aeion for review + asset library. Pure Avid replacement for feature post: not yet.

Aeion's /modules/production handles shot tracking + crew + schedule. For deep VFX-specific pipelines (per-shot version tracking, render farm integration), ShotGrid still has more depth. Aeion competitive for smaller productions; ShotGrid still wins at feature/episodic scale.

Yes for most workflows. Aeion's review portal offers comparable functionality (timecoded comments, version comparison, approval). Frame.io has more polished UX + more third-party integrations.

Not a built-in feature — Aeion doesn't move files to LTO or track tape restores itself. Common pattern: BYO S3 for long-term storage, with your own LTO workflow (or archive vendor) sitting downstream of that bucket.

Cloud-native by design. All offices access same project; CRDT collaboration; cloud rendering. Per-site storage caching for fast playback.

Self-hosted Aeion + air-gapped storage via a custom enterprise arrangement. Used by classified projects + pre-release studio work.

Many productions are bonded (Insured for completion). Aeion's immutable audit trail + delivery tracking satisfies bonding requirements.

Multi-currency for payroll; per-country tax compliance via /modules/finance; per-region delivery specs (PAL/NTSC legacy; BBC/CBC/ABC specs).

One master cut; the professional export pipeline renders network-specific variants. Variants tracked separately for QC + delivery.

Post-production. Collaborative. Cloud-native.
