Aeion Production + Final Draft

Final Draft is the industry-standard screenwriting software — used on 95%+ of Hollywood feature + TV productions. Aeion ingests Final Draft FDX files natively (no conversion needed), runs AI script breakdown automatically, tracks revisions across multiple drafts, links scenes to schedule + budget + storyboards. Bidirectional workflow: writer edits in Final Draft; Aeion syncs; producer + crew see updates. Or annotate in Aeion's collaborative editor + export back to Final Draft for writer review.

AI Breakdown on Import

When an FDX is uploaded, Aeion parses the XML into its own screenplay structure, identifies scenes, dialogue, and action, then runs AI breakdown per scene: cast (named characters + extras count), locations (indoor/outdoor + named), props (identified from action lines + dialogue), costumes (era/type/specific items), makeup (special effects — aging, blood, prosthetics), SFX (rain, fire, explosions, atmospherics), VFX (CGI, compositing, animation), vehicles, animals + species, sound effects (diegetic + non-diegetic), music (songs mentioned, score requirements), and crew flags (stunt coordinators, etc., flagged from action).

FAQ

WriterDuet, Scriptly, Highland, Fountain — all support FDX export. Aeion ingests FDX from any source.

Adobe Story discontinued in 2018; legacy XML format readable but rare. Most teams use Final Draft.

Not supported directly today — export to FDX from Movie Magic Screenwriter first, then import that.

Aeion preserves cards + beat board structure when present in FDX. Not all metadata round-trips perfectly.

Not real-time — FDX is file-based. Sync at each upload. For real-time multi-user editing, use Aeion's native editor.

Aeion auto-generates captions from screenplay text for accessibility. Per-language translations supported.

Multiple FDX files (one per language). Aeion links them as language variants of same screenplay.
